You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate. CAPRA .. .. .. Robert Capra, aged 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Annapolis, MD on September 2, 2025 following a battle with metastatic kidney cancer. "Bob" was born on 2 December 1946 in Stamford, CT. the son of Mario and Rita Capra. When he was 4 years old the family moved to Miami, Florida where he grew up. He graduated from Miami Palmetto Sr. High School in 1964 where he lettered in Football and Track. After graduation from high school, Bob enlisted in the Navy's nuclear powered submarine program rising to the rank of Machinist's Mate Second Class. Following a tour as an instructor at the Nuclear Power Training Unit in New York, Bob received orders to the Naval Academy Prep School in Bainbridge, MD where he played lacrosse and served as one of the two Company Commanders. Bob graduated with a degree in Marine Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy with the Class of 1971, where he played lacrosse for two years and was a member of the Brigade Championship Light Weight Football Team his senior year. Upon commissioning, Bob rejoined the submarine force. Following nuclear power training and submarine school, he served aboard Nathanael Greene for 3 1/2 years and then spent a two-year tour as the 19th Company Officer at USNA. He left active duty in 1978 and stayed in the Naval Reserve working in operations and engineering for the Commander, Submarine Force U.S. Atlantic Fleet for 10 years until he retired from the ready reserve in 1988. Upon leaving active duty, Bob remained living in Annapolis, MD and joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) where he spent 20 years licensing and regulating commercial U.S. nuclear power plants. He retired as a member of the Senior Executive Service. In retirement Bob remained active with his NAPS '67 and USNA '71 classmates serving on several reunion committees, the class football tailgate committee, and a member of the Class of '71 Board of Trustees. He also loved boating on the Chesapeake Bay, spending time with family, especially family cookouts, and watching his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He was also a huge fan of the NFL, the Baltimore Orioles, Major League Lacrosse, and the Premier Lacrosse League. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Jona and is survived by his three sons Col. Kevin Capra (USMA '95) (Molly, USMA '96), Michael Capra, and Patrick Capra (Jaime), their mother Mary Anne Capra, daughter Renee Crick (Brad), three stepchildren Richard Souder (Holli), Matthew Souder (Charlotte), and Christine Jones (Sterling), 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and sister Sharon Brown (Barry). Bob's life was marked by his dedication to his family, friends, his career, NAPS '67 and USNA '71 classmates and leaving behind a legacy of love and commitment that will be cherished by all that knew him. ROTTMANN .. .. .. David Charles Rottmann, 74, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on September 10, 2025. David was a proud United States Navy Veteran in the Submarine Service. He loved playing golf, fishing, but what was most important to him was his family. He would even schedule his days around his grandchildren playing sports. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Debra Rottmann; sons Kenneth Rottmann (Amy) and Thomas Rottmann (Amanda); grandchildren Landon Rottmann and Meadow Rottmann and several nieces and nephews. | ||
