Plankowner Posts: 5024 Location: Gulfport, MS | Subject: Obit Messenger results for 10/12/10. - (Hot Springs Star) James 'Chris' Murry of Hot Springs passed away September 12, 2010 at his home, following a lengthy illness. He was born June 11, 1953, in Coronado, Calif., to Arthur and Audrey Murry. He served in the US Navy and was stationed on a submarine during the Vietnam War. After his service, he graduated from San Diego State University and worked for the Navy Public Works in environmental protection until his medical retirement in 2001, when the family relocated to the Black Hills. He is survived by his wife, Pamela and five daughters; Jennifer (Steve) Merrill, Alyssa Murry, Andrea Murry, Justine Murry, and Audrey Murry, as well as three grandchildren; Justin Messick, Jacob Merrill, and Alexis Hallsted. Services will be planned at a later date. Kinkade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. - (Telegraph-Forum) James A. Wurm, 76, of rural Bucyrus, passed away on Sunday Oct 10, 2010. Jim was born March 3, 1934 in Bucyrus to the late Albert A. and Hazel (Bigler) Wurm. A lifelong Bucyrus resident, Jim attended Holy Trinity School and the Josephinum in Worthington during his freshman and Sophmore years. Jim graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1952. Following school he enlisted in the Navy and served on a submarine during the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic church and very active in the church where he started bingo and worked on the design of the new church. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus. An established business person, Jim helped plan and build many buildings in Bucyrus and the surrounding area. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, hunting, and most of all his family. He was married May 29, 1957 to Elizabeth "Betty" (Simonsen) Wurm who preceded him in death on August 3, 2010. Jim was also preceded in death by son, James A. Wurm. Jim is survived by children, David Wurm, Mike (Heidi) Wurm, Jon (Karen) Wurm all of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Tasha Wurm, Lexington, KY, Veronica Wurm, Columbus, David (Bridgett) Wurm, Bucyrus, Machenzie (Dewey) Harris, Findlay, Cecilia and Gus Wurm both of Bucyrus, Sarah (Brad) Allgire, Columbus, Seth Wurm, Bucyrus, Hannah (Tyler Jacobs) Wurm, Bucyrus, Patrick (Kristen Smith) Wurm, St. Louis, Chris (Katie Foy) Wurm of Toledo, Zach Wurm of Bucyrus; great grandchildren, Ysabella and Kason Wurm; sisters and brothers, Betty (Norman) Haldeman, Dolly (Joel) Butterman, both of Bucyrus, Julie (Doug) Gatchell, Santa Ana, CA, Joyce (Tom) Fleury, Murrysville, PA, Charles (Ramona) Wurm, Bucyrus, John (Debbie) Wurm, Las Vegas, NV, Patty (Mike) Burling, Bucyrus, and Brenda (Kenny) Lawson, Bucyrus. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic church with Father Ronald LeJeune as Celebrant, burial will be in Holy Trinity Section of Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:45 p.m. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 181. Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity School Endowment and expressions of sympathy can be left at: www.munzpirnstill.com - (The News Journal) James George Mitchell, 89, died at Cokesbury Village, Hockessin, on October 2,2010. Jim was born in Mansfield, MA in May of 1921, to Andrew and Elsie (Norwood) Mitchell. He moved with his family to Riverside, RI as a child, and graduated from East Providence High School in 1938. Jim was a 1943 graduate of Brown University in Providence, RI, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. After graduation, Jim joined the US Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII as a member of the submarine service on the USS S-11, USS S-12, and the USS Pilotfish; and as the captain of the landing craft USS LST-610 in Pearl Harbor, training for the invasion of Japan. After the surrender, his ship carried occupation troops to Japan. Jim was stationed in China and post-war Japan before returning home in the spring of 1946. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserve until his transfer to the retired list in 1968, with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Jim married M. Janet Linderson in October 1946 in Fall River, MA. His career as a chemist took them from Rhode Island to West Virginia, Maine, and finally to the former Texaco Refinery in Delaware City. He moved with his family to Wilmington in 1957, and retired from Texaco in 1985 after working there for 28 years. Jim was a long-time member and past president of the Wilmington Trail Club and after his retirement was a faithful participant in the Thursday morning hikes for many years. He also enjoyed traveling with other Trail Club members on trips in the US and Europe. Jim was an avid gardener and spent many hours visiting Longwood Gardens as well as working in his own garden. He was a long-standing season ticket holder for University of Delaware football and basketball and a member of the Touchdown Club, and was a participant in the UD Academy of Life-Long Learning. Jim was predeceased by his wife, Janet, in 1998, and by daughters, Catherine Treml in 1990 and Kimberly Kogon in 2007. He is survived by daughters, Susan Moqtaderi and her husband Reza and Carol Garza and her husband Frank, all of Wilmington; and son, James H. Mitchell of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren: John F. Treml and his wife Laura, Nedda Moqtaderi and her husband Ian Henry, Mehron and Cyrus Moqtaderi, Matthew McGirr and his wife Nadia, Amy and Kevin McGirr, Andrew and Alex Mitchell, and Aaron, Seth and Sam Kogon; and by his great-grandsons, Harold Treml and Christian McGirr; and great-granddaughter, Ada Henry. He is also survived by his sisters, Martha Lowensohn of Bradenton, FL and Priscilla Brown of Barrington, RI; and by his nephews, Thomas Lowensohn and wife Suzanne and David Brown; and by his niece, Lori Vaughan. The family would like to thank the staff of the Health Care Center at Cokesbury Village, and the nurses, aides and social workers of Delaware Hospice for their care and support. Interment in the family plot in Lisbon, CT will be private. A memorial service will be held at Cokesbury Village 726 Loveville Road Hockessin, DE on Friday, October 15, at 2 pm. Box 1184, Wilmington, DE 19899., or to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810. - (TC Palm) Otto Schricker, Jr, died October 8, 2010 in his home in Indian River Estates. Born in Manchester New Hampshire in 1922, he graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1944. After college he enlisted in the U.S. Navy; attained the rank of Lieutenant and served in the Submarine Service during WW II. After the war he earned a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Otto was employed by Exxon in various capacities from 1948 until his retirement in 1982. He obtained patents in the refining of gasoline and spent most of his career in the then new field of electronic data processing. During the course of his career he worked in various geographical areas including a stay in Iran. After his career with Exxon he joined the International Executive Service Corp and served in Venezuela and Sri Lanka as a data processing consultant. A long time resident of Cranford, New Jersey he was active in Boy Scouting and was a choir member and an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church. After moving to Vero Beach in 1986 he remained active in the choir of the First Presbyterian of Vero Beach and sang in the Vero Beach Choral Society. He is survived by his wife of 63 years; Eugenia and four children: Thomas O. Schricker of Verona, New Jersey, Karl A. Schricker of Phoenix, Arizona, Catherine A. Johnson of Trappe, Pennsylvania, Dr. Patricia J. Schricker of Montpelier, Vermont and five grand children. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Indian River Estates West Chapel on Tuesday October 12th at 10:00 am.
