The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.

I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.

MYERS .. .. .. Torpedo Man Chief (TMC) Stephen Doran Myers, USN-Ret., passed away August 22, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Enid, OK on August 12, 1945, the eldest of four children to Rev. Doran Francis Myers and Myrtle Jean Myers. Steve graduated from high school in Pratt, KS in 1963 and enlisted in the Navy in December, 1963, and served in the Navy for 20 years and 6 months. He enlisted to play in the Navy Band, but wound up in the Torpedo Room where he served on many different submarines: USS Valador (’64-65), USS Salmon (’65-’68), USS Seadragon (’70-’73), USS Darter (’73-’77), USS Gato (’80-’82), and USS Permit (’82-’84). In between sub assignments (which included time in the Vietnam theater of operations), he served shore duty on both coasts. He retired from active duty from the USS Permit stationed at Mare Island, but continued to serve another 10 years in the Navy Reserves.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Doran Francis Myers and Myrtle Jean Myers, his daughter Roberta Steeves and many uncles and aunts. Survivors left behind are his wife Irene Erika Myers, his three children: son Stephen (Leticia) Myers, of Texas, daughter Jennifer Bookout of Alabama, and daughter Correna Garrison of Oklahoma City, OK. Also survived by Erika’s three children: Daniel A. Tuziak of Las Vegas, Michele A. (Ron) Tuziak-Buehrer of Vallejo, and Paula Tuziak of American Canyon. Also siblings: sister Kathy (Perk) Johnson, Fernandina Beach, FL, brother Thomas (Beverly) Myers of Florence CO, and Ruth (Craig) Moore of Oklahoma City, OK. Plus six grandchildren: Erin and Josh Warren, Daniele Procuniar, Taylor Myers, Chandler and Sarah Steeves and 2 great-grandchildren.Steve met Erika (on a blind date!) in 1973 while living in Poway, CA, and serving in San Diego. They were married on September 20, 1975, in Poway. Erika followed Steve to every new duty station until he retired from Mare Island. After retirement, Steve worked in civil service on Mare Island and at McClelland AFB near Sacramento. He also drove a truck for a tile company for 8 years. During this time, he learned how to square dance and was a square dance caller for many years (his email address was even CallerSteve@ !). Erika and Steve also enjoyed camping throughout Northern California. They were married one month short of their Golden 50th Wedding Anniversary and Steve celebrated his 80th birthday shortly before his passing.
