You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate. CROWL .. .. .. Jerry Dennis Crowl, 81, passed away on March 7, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida. Born May 16, 1943, in Hanoverton, Ohio, Jerry lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love for his family and friends. Jerry proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as part of the submarine division. Stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, he carried out his duties with honor and commitment. Following his military service, he built a career as a power transformer technician, traveling extensively across the United States and Canada. His work involved maintenance, mechanical repair, and testing of power transformers-- an occupation that reflected his technical skill and dedication to his craft. Beyond his professional life, Jerry had a deep passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and motorcycle riding, always seeking new experiences and adventures. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren, taking them on pontoon rides and fishing trips that created cherished memories. Known for his gift of storytelling, Jerry entertained friends and family with tales that brought laughter and warmth to those around him. A devoted Cleveland Browns fan, Jerry never missed an opportunity to cheer for his team. His love for sports was only matched his love for people-- he had a gift for turning strangers into friends and formed lasting connections wherever he went. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Margaret; his son, David (Diane); three grandchildren-- Alexis, Nathan, and Brooke Crowl; his brother Bill Crowl (Vicki); as well as extended family members and many dear friends. He is proceeded in death by his son, Shane; brothers, Jack, Fred, and Randy Crowl; parents, Margaret and Bill Crowl; and mother and father in-law, Frances and Alex McAleer. A celebration of his life, along with his son Shane's, will be held on June 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Acker-Moore VFW, located at 3733 Fishcreek Rd., Stow OH 44224. Stuart Alan Berman passed away at the age of 78 on February 25, 2025. Beloved husband of Beverly Berman; devoted father of Scott (Hillary) Berman and Rachel (Chris) Newman; loving brother of Judi Klass and Howard (Barbara) Berman; cherished Pop Pop of Sammy Berman, Jack Berman, Isaac Berman, and Neville Newman. Stuart was born and raised in Allentown, Pa. He and Beverly wed in 1973 and together lived in numerous locations during his service in the US Navy as a Submarine Officer. The two raised their children in Virginia Beach, Va., where he continued his service in various contractor roles as a computer engineer, a career he continued in the Washington, DC area when they moved to Maryland. Stuart had a high moral compass, always believing in the way things should be and frustrated by the absurdity of today’s politics. He found great joy in Donald Duck, Star Wars, Legos, and watching baseball. Stuart was an active member of his communities and in high demand for blowing shofar on the High Holidays. His family was his greatest source of joy. Funeral services were held at B’nai Jacob Cemetery in Mont Clare, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to the United States Submarine Veterans Charitable Foundation (www.ussvcf.org/) or Congregation Beth El of Bethesda, Maryland (www.bethelmc.org/). MORROW .. .. .. Robert ‘Bob’ Morrow was born on January 12, 1936, to Fern Salmon and Fred Morrow. His family moved to Rapid City, where they bought and operated the Horseshoe Motel. He attended Rapid City High School. During the summers, he worked on the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. In January 1953, he joined the U.S. Navy and volunteered for the submarine service. He proudly served for 21 years before retiring in August 1974 with the rank of Chief Torpedoman’s Mate (TMC) and earning his Submarine Warfare Qualification (SS). Bob dedicated much of his career to the submarine fleet, achieving the esteemed rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7). After the 1972 flood, he returned to Rapid City to assist with recovery efforts for his father and other victims. Following his Navy retirement, Bob worked on the construction of the South Dakota Cement Plant (SDCP). He later became the safety director before retiring once more. Bob was deeply involved in the Masonic Order, achieving the prestigious rank of Grand Master of South Dakota. He was also a Shriner, a Knights Templar, and a member of the Scottish Rite. Beyond these commitments, Bob was active in numerous civic organizations, including the Arbor Day Foundation, the Rapid City Beautification Committee, and the Marshall Posse. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA. Bob had a passion for horseback riding and spent countless hours building and running his model railroad. He also loved attending Mann Family reunions, but most of all, he treasured time spent with his love Andre; his daughter, Dawn; son-in-law, Kory; and his three grandsons, who lovingly referred to him as Papa Bob. | ||
