I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.

HOWSE .. .. .. Dell Alden Howse, of Baileyton, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 2, 2026, at the age of 87. Mr. Howse was born on November 22, 1938, to the late Robert Victor and Maggie Della Wright Howse.
After graduating Fairview High School, Mr. Howse served our nation honorable for four years as a sailor in the United States Navy. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Cullman, Alabama.
Mr. Howse had a love for nature and the outdoors, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Dell was a skilled artisan and his carving, knife making, and painting skills were exceptional. Mr. Howse was reserved in sharing his talent with others, but his work was outstanding. Dell was also an avid Alabama football fan, and he enjoyed cheering on his beloved Tide.
Mr. Howse is preceded in death by his parents; son, Dell Allen Howse, known to most as “Bo”; siblings and their spouses, Victor and Mildred Howse, Pud and Clara Howse, Buck and Catherine Howse, Zoe and Marzell Howse, Lucille and Gretch Johnson, and Roberta and Pat Yeager.
Those left to cherish the many memories of Mr. Howse include his beloved wife of almost sixty-four years, Sheila Driscoll Howse; daughter, Maggie Howse Thrower and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Megan Smith and husband, Wade, Jenny Nicholason and husband, Josh; great-grandchildren, Moses Smith, Sunni Jo Smith; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Howse; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Shipmate Howse joined the U.S. Navy in 1958. Dell was assigned to USS SAILFISH (SSR 572) where he Qualified in Submarines in 1960. He left the U.S. Navy with an Honorable Discharge in 1962 as an IC2(SS).
Dell joined USSVI Groton Base in 1999 and upgraded to Life Membership in 2004. He was inducted into the prestigious Holland Club in 2010

KATUSICH .. .. .. Joseph Katusich, Sr., 87, of Gales Ferry, CT, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Harbor Village Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in New London, CT. Born in War, WV, on March 4, 1939, he was the son of Fabian Katusich and Teresa Diviak.
Joseph served in the U.S. Navy for two decades as a submariner and COB aboard the USS George C. Marshall. He also worked for nearly 15 years in Power Plant Operations at Pfizer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley Darlena Hyatt Katusich of Gales Ferry, CT; his daughter, Delisa Diane Katusich of Gales Ferry, CT; his son, Joseph Katusich, Jr. of Shrewsbury, MA; his sister, Helen Smith of Grafton, OH; and three grandchildren, Joseph Fabian Katusich III of Southampton, MA, Jessica Elise Katusich of Florence, MA, and Griffin Jonah Katusich-Kane of Holden, MA.

CASSIDY .. .. .. Salem-John Joseph Cassidy 74, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026. He grew up in Winslow, Maine, and graduated from Winslow High School. It was during his school years in Winslow that he met his beloved wife, Cheryle; they were high school sweethearts who went on to build a beautiful life together.

John proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist's Mate and a skilled ship's diver. His time stationed aboard the submarines USS Hammerhead and USS Will Rogers sparked a lifelong, deeply patriotic pride and an enduring fascination with submarines. Following his naval service, he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He and Cheryle eventually settled in Salem, Connecticut, where they raised their family. John enjoyed a dedicated, 35-year career working as a Quality Engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Deeply involved in his community, he served as a Boy Scout leader, youth baseball coach, and umpire. A natural teacher and problem solver, he was fascinated by how things worked and loved bringing people alongside him to share the mechanics of baseball or his knowledge of fixing cars and engines.

John was defined by his joyful spirit, a quiet work ethic, and a home filled with singing and laughter. He was a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox and delighted in celebrating four World Series titles in his lifetime. He was an avid skier and fisherman. Above all, he offered unconditional support to his family, always guiding them forward with understanding.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Joyce Cassidy and Lionel Allen Cassidy; his siblings, James Patrick Cassidy, Michael Scott Cassidy, and Margaret Mary Cassidy; and his granddaughter, Arabella Grace Manwaring. He was also predeceased by his parents-in-law, Richard R. Boutin and Nanette Boutin, and his brother-in-law, Ricky Boutin.

John leaves behind his wife, Cheryle; his son, Ryan; his daughter, Heather and her husband Hull; his cherished grandchildren, Richard, Ruby, Cassidy, Oliver, Aveline, and Ilana; his brothers, Brian, Thomas, Scott, and Daniel; and a loving extended family.

CRAWFORD .. .. .. Marion "Mick" Thomas Crawford, of Fair Oaks, CA, passed away on August 18, 2026, at the age of 78 in Folsom, CA, due to complications from a brain aneurysm. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on October 1, 1947, in Fostoria, Ohio, Mick was the son of Marion and Frances Crawford. He grew up in Frankton, Indiana, with his brothers, Gary and Kevin, before enlisting in the United States Navy shortly after high school. Mick proudly served as a submarine sailor during the Cold War, patrolling the waters of the Pacific to Guam aboard the nuclear submarine USS John Adams SSBN 620. His time in the Navy remained a fond chapter of his life, marked by several honors, including the Good Conduct Award, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the National Defense Award.
Following his honorable discharge in January 1973, Mick relocated to Sacramento, CA. He built a long and successful career as an IT Systems Specialist and retired from Dignity Health. A devoted family man, Mick raised three children: Matthew, Andrew, and Amy. He will be remembered most for his unwavering support of his family and his delightfully biting sense of humor.
Mick is survived by his children, Matthew, Andrew, and Amy, and his beloved granddaughters, Doris and Carmen.

ENGLEMAN .. .. .. Randall Lynn Engleman, 76, of Beebe, Arkansas passed away peacefully in his home on September 13th, 2026. Born on July 20th, 1950, to Bill and Donna Engleman in Great Bend, Kansas, Randall spent most of his childhood years hunting, trapping, and farming.
In 1969 he joined the United States Navy as an Electrician’s Mate. Upon graduating Submarine School, he proudly served in the “Silent Service” aboard the USS Harder (SS 568) until 1973 earning the rank of Electrician’s Mate Second Class.
After his Honorable Discharge he spent 25 years with the Oil and Gas industry in northwest Oklahoma. His career path took a turn in the early 2000’s after applying for and being hand selected from hundreds of applicants to become a Wildlife Services Specialist for the United States Department of Agriculture.
Randall loved gardening, spending time with his beloved friends and family, and cheering on his Oklahoma Sooners football team.
He is survived by his wife Sarita, four children; Layton (Jennifer) Whipple, Jason (Wendy) Engleman, Landon (Rhiannon) Engleman, and Dakotah Engleman (Vincent Wall), two stepsons; Colby and Kippy (Natasha) Baird, ten grandchildren; Sydney, Ayden, Jimmy Jack, Kaden, Kylee, Melody and Austin Sampson, Lyla, Leinnah, and Rowan Wall, his sister Rhonda Young, and brother Dana (Carol) Engleman, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Marie Engleman, Max and Donna Knipe, and daughter Danielle Engleman.
