What I find interesting is how these officers get promoted, assume command, and then the Navy discovers a problem.

Tom, there is a possibility, maybe even probability in some cases that there wasn't a problem with the CO. Maybe there was a problem with an asinine squadron commander, and the ship CO told him to pack sand, or resisted in the interest of his crew. I seen that once.

I was talking with my Brother-in-Law whose Grandson is in his 1st year at Annapolis. He was admitted under an athletic scholarship. His grades weren't good enough for that to have him admitted. His major is History. I guess I'm just an old fart but how does all that translate into a leader. whom I thought, was learning to be a leader if in a combat or crisis event. Maybe that's a reason why COs are being removed.
